Wow.. I can't believe that another year is coming to an end already. It blows me away how fast time seems to fly by!
This past year has been a really good year for myself and for the site. Train With Me Online continues to grow and the community keeps getting stronger! In 2010, I discovered the RKC (Russian kettlebell challenge) and Hardstyle kettlebell training and found CrossFit Vancouver. Both of these have made such a huge difference in my life and the way that I train and have given me a ton of new ideas and more content for the site than I know what to do with!
I received my Hardstyle kettlebell certification this past year and in the Spring of 2011 will be travelling to St. Paul Minnesota to get my RKC which is one of the most highly recognized kettlebell certifications in the world. I have also received several CrossFit certifications over the last year and am registered for more in 2011 including the Olympic Lifting and the CrossFit Kids certification.
I plan on filming all of the RKC and fundamental CrossFit exercises and adding them to the site in the New Year. Once all of these new exercises have been filmed, I'm going to start building a ton new workouts including kettlebell conditioning workouts, CrossFit benchmark WOD's and CrossFit style met-con workouts! I'm really excited about these new additions and can't wait to get them on the site!
Thanks again for your continued support over the last year, it's always greatly appreciated!
Happy Holidays!

I took the CrossFit Level 1 certification last weekend, passed the test and got certified!
There were about 40 people in the class and we started out with the basics of what CrossFit is… which is so many things… here are a few of them to give you a quick idea:
Work Capacity, Across Broad Time and Modal Domains
Constantly Varied, High Intensity, Functional Movements
Nutrition, Metabolic conditioning, Gymnastics, Weight Lifting & Throwing, and finally Sport
You might think that this is common sense, but in a lot of cases it’s not. I’ve attached an article that goes into what CrossFit is in a little more detail.
Once the basics were covered we moved onto the 9 functional movements:
Shoulder Press, Push Press, Push Jerk
Air Squat, Front Squat, Overhead Squat
Dead lift, Sumo Dead lift High Pull, Medicine Ball Clean
On the second day we reviewed all the information that was covered on the 1st day and then went onto nutrition, the Glute Ham Developer and Programming… we did a workout both days which was fun and tiring (which is always expected) and then finished the last day off with the exam!
It was a ton of fun, I learnt lots and am very happy I completed it with flying colors!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but I've been super busy the past few weeks working on some new updates for the website. George and I have both been busy making subtle changes and working on some really cool additions that we will be launching in the new year!
Right now I'm working on re-filming and editing all of the old exercise videos so that all of the videos on the site will be in high definition format. Once I'm done all that, I'm going to build full length videos for all of the original workout routines!
Anyways a friend of mine shared this video with me last week and I've watched it about a dozen times. If you haven't seen it yet, then get ready to be blown away! It's pretty inspirational, the stunts on it are absolutely unbelievable and I think it's so awesome when someone is able to catch stuff like this on film!
Marlaena and I attended an awesome gymnastics certification this past weekend. It was so much fun and something that I wish I had done ten years ago! The seminar was hosted by CrossFit Vancouver and instructed by Jeff Tucker from GSX Athletics. It was held over two days and each day ran about 8 hours or so. I was pretty tired by the end of the second day but I absorbed so much information and learned so many new skills and spotting techniques that it was well worth it!
We started the weekend off with a thorough full body dynamic warm-up. After that we moved on to some basic gymnastics skills like knees to elbows, the roll-up, skin the cat and the back and front lever. Most of these movements were new to me but I managed to pick them up fairly quickly which was nice. I had trouble with some of the more advanced movements but have all the progressions for them so will be working on them all as much as time will allow!
The second day focused on pull-ups, kipping pull-ups, muscle-up progressions, various skills on the parallette bars and hand stand progressions. I really wanted to work on my handstand so I paid extra close attention during that part of the seminar! I think it would be so cool to be able to some handstand push-ups without any support from a wall. I'm nowhere close, but at least now I know how to get there!
All in all it was a great weekend and I definitely have a greater appreciation for high level gymnasts! Jeff Tucker was a real straight shooter and an excellent instructor. I learned a bunch of awesome new skills and had a lot of fun! I would strongly recommend this course to anyone that has a chance to take it. We liked Jeff so much that Mar and I are planning on going down to Texas to train with him at his gym in the new year!
