So i just sent in my request for the consultation part of Crossfit.ca
anyone interested in joining it as well? It's $750 for 1 on 1 training to get started, but if someone wants to go in with me, it's $500 each for 1 on 2 training.
Oh, Crossfit.ca is in Vancouver. I'm Surrey and I'm very interested to getting a boost in my personal training.

Hey Sun,
If you're looking for a boost in your training then CrossFit is definitely the place to go! No matter what your fitness level is now, I guarantee that it will jump leaps and bounds once you get started! I've gotten so much stronger, set new personal records for deadlift, front squat and clean and jerk, I've improved my overall conditioning immensely, have way better range and mobility in my hips and shoulders and my flexibility is at an all time high!
And even though the initial $750 might seem a little steep, it is definitely worth it. It works out to be about 12 sessions so it is about the same cost or cheaper than training with a personal trainer and once you've completed those you can start going to the classes which is where the real fun begins! I did my initial sessions with a training partner of mine and even though I learned a ton of awesome stuff I know I probably would have gotten a bit more out of it if I had done the sessions on my own.
Cheers! |

Hey Sun!
I did / am doing the sessions on my own... to be honest I prefer it this way.
Each day you learn a new lift or some new technique and if you're training partner isn't at the same level as you it might make things a little tougher or take a little longer...
It might be nice to have someone to go up against during the workouts at the end of the session but as long as you're good at pushing yourself and racing the clock you'll be fine! I have no problems pushing myself so it works well for me... I do ask my trainer what sort of time I should be trying to beat just so I have a number in my head though
Hope your consultation goes well!
Keep us posted!

Congrats!
I met Corey the other week… we're both in the same gymnastics class!
I used to be a gymnast so figured I’d brush up on my skills, plus there’s some gymnastics incorporated in CrossFit so thought it'd be a good idea
Be sure to let us know how it goes!

So I went to Crossfit today for my evaluation.
WOW! The evaluation itself killed me. I did some stretches and so forth, but it wasn't until the 400m run and the stuff after. I felt like puking a few times and had to call it quits earlier. I had 3 more tests left too. We did a few things, talked about Crossfit, 25 unweighted squats, 400m run followed right by a 400m run carrying a medicine ball, as man pushups you can do (i did 32), then pull ups (i got 13), then sit ups (i got 26) in one minute. I felt like crap after that. I had to do Tabata squats next and I called it quits cause I felt like I was **** kicked. So I told Corey that I'll commit and my training starts Friday.
This friday, i'll try to be better prepped instead of waking up late and going there on an empty stomach.

Hey Sun!
Congrats on making it through the first session (and signing up)!
I know a few guys that went through the consultation / first session and almost threw up too, so you're not alone!
The 400m run with the medicine ball can be pretty interesting... its definitely hard to find a good place to hold it while trying to sprint seeing as they're a bit bigger than the normal ones you'll find in a gym... and soon enough you'll grow to love the Tabata intervals, short and sweet.
Well, welcome to the Vancouver CrossFit community! Be prepared to feel like that again... just remember how good it feels once you're done

Congrats man, those are some great numbers! And ya, make sure that you eat well before your next session and get plenty of rest! It makes such a huge difference in your performance and CrossFit has definitely made me more aware of the importance of nutrition and fueling up your body properly before and after each training session.
Good luck on Friday and make sure to keep us posted on your progress! |

SO!!! First day of training went well.
Started off with the warm up off the chart on the wall up to the duck walks. Then a 500m row for a warm up.
We covered the deadlift today to which my form was pretty good. We went to 185lbs. I already know I can lift 225lbs to 275lbs.
Then I did half a 'helen' which took me 8mins 20sec due to my lower lumbar stiffing up. Which always does when i don't run for a long period of time and start again.
And I felt great after. So hopefully I can kick my ass in gear to finish better. My lungs, heart, and mental game is getting back so it's looking good.
My trainer (Corey) says I should be able to finish the training in 10 sessions because my squat and deadlift form are all pretty good. |

Hey!
It sounds like you’re enjoying yourself! There are so many workouts, all which are good! I think the hardest one we’ve done so far is the Santa Cruz (check it out in your book) One of the things that I really like is that you get to track all your lifts/workouts and see your progress!
I did the ½ Helen when I first started too, later when we did the full Helen it only took me 2-3 minutes longer! So its nice to see how much you improve the longer you’re there!
Maybe we’ll see you at the next Vancouver CrossFit event!

Hey Sun!
Congrats on getting through your first workout brother!
I just got back from CrossFit Van.. I did the full Helen today and finished it in 11:50
It's not the greatest time but my legs felt like lead on the 400M runs and I couldn't get them to go any faster.. that might have something to do with the heavy deadlifts that I did yesterday but who knows?!?
Anyways I'm glad you're enjoying it so far, it only gets better and harder and like Mar said.. hopefully we can meet at an upcoming event this summer!
Cheers! |

update:
This session was good. I did the farmer's walk with 30lbs a side and 30lbs for the waiter's walk. I did 75 wall balls in 6:20m with the 16lb ball. Great workout day! |
