Hey Ben just wanted to introduce myself and say what a awesome site and great information....I am a 20 year full-time firefighter and NASM CPT, NASM Food Nutrition Speacialist. Me and my wife and 5 year old son live here in Mississippi Gulf Coast about 50 miles to the east of New Orleans. Katrina was crazy for us search and rescue guys. I started racing pro Ironman Triathlon circuit in 2005 and it really helped with the stress and everything going on at that time. Stressful wasn't even close!!!! I have 4 more years left to retire with 25 years of service, and I just started my personal trainer buisness and hope it keeps growing like it is. Just wanted to say thank you for this great site because it really helps me with different workout plans and variables to keep the body guessing..

Hey Clay!
Thanks for the compliments! I really appreciate the positive feedback and I'm glad you're finding the site useful.
I can only imagine how crazy it must have been for you guys during Katrina. I went through the fire academy about 10 years ago and didn't realize how much of it was first responder/first aid type stuff. I'm not very good at compartmentalizing my emotions and I don't think I'd be able to handle seeing that kind of mass destruction first hand.
I think it's great that you've found healthy ways to cope with your stress and I think it's awesome that you are gearing up for a career as a personal trainer after you retire. It's an incredibly rewarding profession and I couldn't imagine doing anything else right now!
Anyways if you ever need some help with programming or exercise suggestions for clients let me know and I'll do my best to help you out!
Cheers!

Hey Clay, I am a police officer in New Jersey. I saw that you mentioned that you are a food nutrition specialist. I can't seem to keep a muscle that I have gained. I can't find that balance for fat loss and keeping my hard earned muscle.
Do you have any suggestions of help?
Jon
