The barbell deadlift is an intermediate back exercise. This execise recruits many different muscles groups including the hamsrings, lower back, obliques, glutes and abdominals. The barbell deadlift is probably the most efficient all round back exercise.

Instructions on how to do Barbell Deadlifts

Step 1: How to do this Lower Back Exercise: Step 1 Start with your feet slightly wider than shoulder width apart and grip the bar a few inches wider than your hips.
Step 2: How to do this Lower Back Exercise: Step 2 Keep a slight bend in your knees and your lower back arced as you slowly bend forward at the hips. Make sure that you stick your buttocks out as if you were going to sit down and keep your chin up throughout.
Step 3: How to do this Lower Back Exercise: Step 3 Stop lowering the weight down when you feel a comfortable but not overwhelming stretch in your hamstrings. Lift your body back up through your hips using your lower back, hamstrings and core.

I think the explanation is just plain beautiful. It tells me where to feel it and when to stop lowering the weight. Its very important. Better articulated as compared to that for Dumb-bell Deadlifts.
